Introduction: “Most founders have a problem delegating, right? Because this is your baby, and nobody can do it as well as you. Well, it turns out, they can. You just have to give them the opportunity to do so.”
Aaron Watson: Hey, what’s up everyone? Welcome back to going deep with Aaron Watson. My interview today is with Ben Wilson. He is the founder and CEO of rivers agile, a multi-million dollar software development consultancy based in Pittsburgh. They started in QA and have since expanded to a comprehensive suite around software development and product development Ben just moved into a new office downtown in March as the company has expanded to over 40 people and so we talked in this episode about navigating and leading a team through the pandemic. We talked about how the company has grown and the types of clients that they have served and the cyclical trends that Ben is paying attention to in the world of software development and the appetites that his clients are having in the face of this seismic change. I learned a lot from Ben. He was wonderfully candid about his own challenges with finding time to slow down and stop in the midst of all this craziness and I really appreciate him taking the time to be on this show. I think that you’re going to enjoy the conversation. Here is Ben Wilson.”
Ben Wilson founded Rivers Agile in 2008, in the eye of the Great Financial Crisis. The software consulting firm started focusing on advanced quality assurance and expanded to offer custom software development.
Now, Ben is leading his team through the pandemic, an office change, and a shifting marketplace for software solutions. He believes he’s poised to take advantage of a trend of on-shoring and digital reinvention that the circumstances will demand.
